Nude Oblivion?

Well, it seems the ESRB has changed the "Oblivion" rating from TEEN to MATURE.  Citing excessive gore and the availability of a "nude" MOD for the PC version.

I can understand the whole nude "Hot Coffee" thing for GTA, but in "Oblivion"?!  A nude what? Seriously guys, go buy yourselves a fucking Playboy or something.

  1. Seriously? We (the gamining community) should make a nude mod for every game we can, force the ESRB to get a clue.

  2. hehe…omg!

I just thought of the Germans in their skivies..dude, thats so wrong

  3. Well, the nude “mod” simply unlocks nude female textures that are already in the game. You’d think Bethesda would have learned from Rockstar’s mistakes, but apparently not.

As far as where it would appear, I’m assuming it’s when you strip the dead females. Right now you can just strip them down to their bra. I guess the texture is just a bra-less version.

I don’t blame the ESRB one bit. Last thing anybody wants is the fucking feds tripping over their guts to legislate regulation because the industry (read – lazy fucking parents) can’t do it themselves.

  4. Bethesda is claiming not so:

“There is no nudity in Oblivion without a third party modification. In the PC version of the game only – this doesn’t apply to the Xbox 360 version – some modders have used a third party tool to hack into and modify an art archive file to make it possible to create a mesh for a partially nude (topless) female that they add into the game. Bethesda didn’t create a game with nudity and does not intend that nudity appear in Oblivion. There is no nude female character in a section of the game that can be “unlocked.” Bethesda can not control tampering with Oblivion by third parties. Bethesda is taking steps to ensure that modders can not continue to hack into Oblivion’s art archives to create partially nude figures.”

I have no idea if there telling the truth or not, but i’m sure the exact details will come out within the next few days.

  5. Yeah I read that too.

If thats the case, then the ESRB is out of line on the issue. If they had authority to do that, then most PC games could be bumped to mature.

  6. I was going by what Gamasutra was reporting as of yesterday. Things seem to have changed today and – assuming this is the case – then I think it’s a flaming crock of shit. That also means that fun loving family titles such as The Sims will now be rated M as well… right hypocritical ESRB?

I still think the M rating for WWIIOL was a crock as well.

  7. Rockstar’s mistake wasn’t one, unless you consider taking the simpler to test an QA method of simply avoiding the resources but leaving them in (in case they’re referenced elsewhere) an error.

I know the guy that animated that. It was censor fodder. By putting in something they didn’t care about that much, they could remove it to satisfy the censors’ offended morals, and keep what they DID want.
